Toddler Activities In Milton Keynes

September 11, 2022

I often have friends and followers of my blog ask me for recommendations for toddler activities in Milton Keynes. I found I missed out on the baby group phase due to lockdowns, so I’ve tried to make up for it by exploring lots of different toddler activities with my daughter Ivy. We’ve found all sorts of different groups, and I’m always looking for new toddler activities to do with her.

Here is a guide with some of our favourite toddler activities we’ve found in Milton Keynes and enjoyed. As always, information is correct at the time of writing but may have changed since – if you know of any changes please get in touch with me so I can correct them.

If you visit any of the toddler activities I’ve recommended I’d love to hear what you think. Tag your social media photos with #keynetoexplore so I can see them!

Mucky Ducks Messy Play

Mucky Ducks Messy Play is a fun toddler activity in Milton Keynes if you’re wanting to explore messy play with your child, without having to do the tidying up afterwards! What’s great about this is not only that everything in the messy play is edible, but it also caters to all allergies – so you don’t need to worry about what your little one puts in their mouths! Each week has a different theme, with lots of creative stations for them to explore and let their imaginations run wild!

Mucky Ducks sessions last 45 minutes, are for ages 6 months, or younger if able to sit unaided, up to 6-year-olds. The session costs £6.50 for an adult and one child and is available to be booked as pay as you go, or book as a full term.

Start The Art at MK Gallery

I discovered Start The Art sessions at MK Gallery when I was looking for a playgroup that was a little different for Ivy. I like trying to encourage her creative side, and this toddler activity does just that. Each week has a different theme, and teaches children to find new ways to play with different textures and smells, and learn about the world through play.

Start the Art sessions take place on a Tuesday morning during term time for preschool children, cost £6 for an adult and child and are available as pay-as-you-go sessions.

Tree Tots at Howe Park Wood

Tree Tots is a different type of toddler activity and takes place outdoors in Howe Park Wood. The idea behind the sessions is to teach children about nature, and encourage them with different ways to play outdoors. Sessions are run by The Parks Trust, and children are free to explore on their own terms rather than follow structured activities.

Tree Tots is a 50-minute session that runs on Thursday mornings for preschool children and runs every week even during school holidays. Sessions cost £1 per person, and are available as pay-as-you-go and take place come rain or shine!

Little City Milton Keynes

We’ve been to quite a few different play sessions at Little City Milton Keynes as it’s one of Ivy’s favourite toddler activities in Milton Keynes. The whole idea behind it is that it’s a role-play city, with lots of different areas for toddlers to play in and encourages imaginative play. We’ve gone a few times with some of Ivy’s toddler friends, and it’s great to see them all interact together and play in different parts of the role-play city.

Little City sessions last one hour and are suitable for under 5’s and cost £7.50 for one adult and child, and are available as pay-as-you-go sessions. Little City takes place in various places across Milton Keynes on different dates, so it’s worth looking at when it’s on!

Arabian School of Gymnastics Stay & Play Sessions

Arabian School of Gymnastics offers stay & play sessions as a way to introduce toddlers to gymnastics. There’s lots of gymnastics equipment to play on as well as soft play equipment and a huge bouncy castle!

Stay and play sessions either last 55 minutes or 2 hours depending on which session you book onto, and run 5 days a week at different times. Sessions cost £5.50 for one adult and child for the 55-minute session, and £7.50 for 2 hours and are available as pay-as-you-go sessions.

Phonics with Robot Reg

Phonics with Robot Reg is another toddler activity in Milton Keynes that we have loved. Sessions are based on teaching phonics with different activities, songs and games and of course staring the Robot Reg character who toddlers love! There’s also a quiet part of the session where your little ones get to read books while you have a cuppa – which I love! Claire who runs the sessions is really enthusiastic, and all the kids love joining in with her. Ivy has a particular soft spot for sitting with Claire and helping her with her props!

Phonics with Robot Reg has two different sessions, one for mini’s for 1-2 and a half-year-olds, and one for preschool children aged 2 and a half to 4-year-olds. Sessions take place at various locations in Milton Keynes at different times and days, and do the odd special event on Saturdays that’s worth looking out for! A term of sessions costs £77, and you can book a 3-week trial as a new customer.

Waddlers to Toddlers at MK Springers

Very similar to the stay & play sessions at Arabian School of Gymnastics, MK Springers run waddler to toddler sessions as an introduction to gymnastics as a toddler activity. During the sessions, you can play on the gymnastics equipment, which includes a big trampoline which I can never get Ivy off of! There’s also some soft play equipment out, and songs that you can join in with.

Waddlers to Toddlers sessions are on 6 days a week, lasting an hour and 45 minutes and cost £5 for a child and adult. Sessions are available as pay-as-you-go.

Gravity Parent & Toddler Sessions

A great toddler activity I like to take Ivy to is Gravity’s parent and toddler sessions. For an hour you get the whole trampoline park for under 5’s only, meaning it’s a lot easier for your toddlers to jump around without getting in the way of older kids! There are loads of trampolines, as well as a ball bit and assault course – and occasionally there’s been some soft play equipment out too.

Gravity runs pay-as-you-go parent and toddler sessions 6 days a week and costs £6 for an adult and child. Sessions last for an hour and are suitable for toddlers over 18 months until 5 years old. Please note you will have to buy a pair of Gravity socks which cost £2.50.

Big Mama’s Soft Play Cafe

Another favourite toddler activity is Big Mama’s Soft Play, which has lots of soft play equipment, toys, ride-along toys and a giant bouncy castle in a cafe setting – meaning you can sit and enjoy a cuppa and a chat with a friend while your toddlers play!

Big Mama’s Soft Play runs pay-as-you-go toddler activities in Milton Keynes 3 days a week Wednesday – Friday, where adults cost £1, 6 – 11 months are £2, 1-5-year-olds are £4 and under 6 months are free. There are occasional weekend sessions as well, so it’s worth keeping an eye out for those!

Toddle Tours at MK Gallery

We’ve visited a few different toddle tours at MK Gallery now, it’s a lovely way to experience the different exhibitions in a fun child-friendly way! Each toddle tour runs in a different way depending on how the exhibition runs and the themes behind that. We previously attended one about circles, so everything we did had a circle theme – including bubbles which Ivy loved!

Toddle Tours are suitable for under 5’s, they run every few months at MK Gallery when the exhibitions change and last about 40/45 minutes. You can find when they are on their what’s on page.
