Sensory Toddle Tour at MK Gallery

September 19, 2021

Because I spend my weekdays working, I try to fill our weekends with adventures to make up for the time I’ve missed with the kids. I’m always looking out for toddler activities to take my very active toddler to and came across sensory toddle tours at MK Gallery.

I’ve never visited MK Gallery before but saw it had a remodel a few years ago, and have loved the colourful addition to Milton Keynes.

We started off the sensory toddle tour meeting our tour guide, who spoke to us about what we were looking for on our sensory tour – all things circles. We had a look to see what circles we could find outside MK Gallery, where we found some colourful ones and a metal sphere – which we were allowed to play paintbrushes on to make a noise.

We then headed inside where we played with some colourful circle lights, before moving upstairs to the sky room auditorium – which has a huge circle window. Here we played with colourful circles, sticking them to the window to create our own paintings. Ivy loved sticking the different colours to the windows and creating different patterns.

Then we moved outside for our final sensory activity, every toddler’s favourite circle activity – bubbles! We got to make huge bubbles and chase them around outside, which of course was Ivy’s favourite activity.

After we finished our sensory toddle tour we spent a bit of time playing in the playscape, which is behind MK Gallery to the left of MK Theatre. There are things to climb including a big colourful mountain which Ivy loved running up and down, and a climbing frame. It’s not a huge area, but we loved running around it!

We had a great time on the sensory toddle tour, it was so much fun, and the lady we had who was taking us around was great with Ivy and made it so much fun! Something else I really loved is that she spoke to us and used sign language at the same time too. We’ll certainly be looking out for the next one.
