Ivy and I took a trip to Stony Startford area, to go on a hunt for Caterpillar Park. Caterpillar Park is a small local park, with the main attraction being a large caterpillar metal slide. The park isn’t enclosed, but it’s located far back from the road, and there’s loads of green space around it
The park has an old school climbing frame, which would be better suited for older children as my 20 month old enjoyed climbing up it, but then didn’t have anywhere to go. There’s also a roundabout which can go quite fast, and a couple of swings and baby swings.
Ivy’s favourite thing to do at the moment is jumping, so she very much enjoyed the floor trampoline. When we visited we were the only ones in the park, but I can imagine this would be quite popular.
There’s also a spring rocker, which Ivy loved sitting and rocking on. It was quite springy, so might be another thing that’s better for older kids!
The park also has these flower speakers, where you can speak into one end and hear out the other. It’s not something Ivy was overly interested in, but I can imagine older children would have great fun with these!
We really enjoyed our trip to Caterpillar Park! It’s a little run down, but everything works really well and I love that it’s themed with caterpillars, butterflies and flowers. Although some of the equipment, like the climbing frame, is better for older children, Ivy still had a brilliant time running around, playing on the swings, trampoline and of course, the slide!

If you’ve enjoyed Caterpillar Park and are looking for somewhere to go next, only a short walk away from Tractor Park, a small metal tractor climbing frame with a slide. You can also take an 8-minute walk towards Fullers Slade to Spider Park, which has a large rope climbing frame and a small park for toddlers. You’re also quite close to Safari MK and MK Springers if you’re looking for something else to take the kids to!
