The build up of the festive season at the theatre, especially when it involves panto during Christmas time, has an undeniable touch of magic. I have so many happy childhood memories with my parents heading to the panto at Milton Keynes theatre for our annual tradition. This year has felt extra special, as I’m able to carry on this happy tradition and take part in this experience as an adult with my daughter to watch the panto.
My love of theatre has worn off on my daughter, and this Christmas we took my daughter to her first panto experience. Our destination of choice was, of course, Milton Keynes Theatre, where we eagerly awaited the grand performance of the beloved panto, Cinderella. It was made even more special with the inclusion of the exceptional Brian Conley as Buttons.
Cinderella the Panto at Milton Keynes Theatre
Michael Harrison and Brian Conley have created a truly magical and whimsical performance with their adaptation of Cinderella. This production had it all – from villains and heroes to beautiful singing and comedic moments. It even had me on the verge of tears before the interval. No panto is complete without audience participation, and Brian Conley is fantastic at including the audience throughout the performance, and of course picking on unexpecting members of the audience!
Trust me, it’s difficult to write a review of this show without giving away any spoilers, but it was an absolutely incredible experience.
The casting choices made for this show were absolutely fantastic, especially Brian Conley who portrayed the character of Buttons – he’s the true panto comedy genuis! His performance had a mesmerising effect on the audience, keeping them entertained, laughing, and joining in with the singing. Brain was joined by a remarkably talented cast that brought the performance to life.
The comedy duo Neal Wright and Ben Stock, who play the roles of the Wicked Stepsisters, Claudia and Tess, will have you booing and laughing along with them. James Darch played the delightful Prince Charming, and Sarah Vaughan graced the stage as Cinderella. Taking on the role of Dandini is Owen Stringer, and the cast was joined by Lucy Conley, who will enchant audiences as Fairy 312.
Additionally, as someone who absolutely adores the theatre, I must mention that the set for the panto at Milton Keynes Theatre is absolutely incredible. Throughout the show, you will find an abundance of glitzy costumes, stunning backgrounds, and enchanting magical touches. Throughout the entire show, my 4-year-old daughter was completely mesmerised, and I must admit, I was too!

If you’re looking for an extraordinary Christmas event this year, I without a doubt highly recommend that you plan to visit the panto at Milton Keynes Theatre. It’s an unmissable show! When it comes to the pantos I have seen, I can say without hesitation that this one takes the crown as my absolute favorite. Sharing this experience with my family there made this magical experience even better, a new tradition I think we will carry on for years to come.

There’s plenty of parking around central Milton Keynes, but allow yourself plenty of time to park before the show – it can get busy in the evenings!
