AD – PR INVITE
I was invited to the preview evening and given a complimentary meal
Last night I was invited along to the preview evening for a new Indian fusion restaurant opening in Newport Pagnell, Patley Indian. The new indie restaurant is opening its doors officially today, serving a range of imaginative Indian dishes with a fusion twist. When choosing to eat out, Indian isn’t my normal go-to place to eat, so it was great to go along and try somewhere that I may have otherwise overlooked.

Patley Indian is situated on the Newport Pagnell high street and is in great company with other independent restaurants and shops. Newport Pagnell is one of my favourite places in Milton Keynes to visit, for this reason, there’s so much choice when it comes to indie places to visit.
As this was a preview evening, Patley Indian had gone all out with a balloon arch, there was a magician wandering around to keep us entertained (who honestly was incredible!), and the mayor of Milton Keynes was in attendance. The atmosphere was amazing, and everyone seemed to be having a great time.

When it came to decor Patley Indian has worked really hard to make it feel very luxe. There are gold and blue decorations, a huge blossom tree and a neon garden wall – it’s truly beautiful inside.

Right, so let’s talk about the food. As I’ve mentioned Indian isn’t my usual favourite – however, I could not get enough of the dishes at Patley Indian. We started with a couple of popadoms and a mix of chutneys. The popadoms were perfectly crispy, and the mint sauce alone was to die for. I could have eaten the popadoms and chutney all evening if I could have. We were then given a mixed starter of onion bhajis, samosa, seekh kebab, chicken tikka and a mixed salad and olives. The onion bhaji and samosa were the stand out best for me, whereas Chris (who was very much enjoying being a plus one) loved the seekh kebab the best. The salad and olives were a bit, meh, but to be honest, do you really pay much attention to the salad garnish?

For our mains, we were given a selection of their favourite dishes, Lamb Karahi, Bombay Potatoes, and Chicken Tikka Masala alongside rice and naan bread. Chicken tikka masala is one of my usual go-to dishes, so I was excited that we’d been given one of these. The dish was full of flavour, and was amazing – I think I managed to not leave any of the sauce at all. The Bombay potatoes were delicious, they aren’t a personal favourite of mine – but Chris enjoyed these. Now the lamb karahi was the absolute star of the show, I have never had anything like this. The lamb was so incredibly tender and the flavour was incredible – this is definitely something I would order again!

The evening was finished with a celebration cake which went down nicely. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Patley Indian, the food is incredible, the owner was lovely, and the whole venue is stunning. I’ll definitely be returning again as a customer, and I’m pleased that my mind has been changed on Indian food!
