Sunflowers are my absolute favourite flower, they’re just so bright and colourful, you can’t help but feel happy when looking at them. Every summer I love it when they are in season, and you find them popping up everywhere.

The latest thing has become sunflower fields – somewhere to go to entertain the kids, pick sunflowers, or just take photos with the sunflowers! The best place in Milton Keynes for sunflowers is The Patch MK – we visited last year for the first year of them running as a sunflower field, and again in the autumn for their pumpkin patch. We had to come back again this year as we loved it so much. Since our visit last year there have been a few additions, with new attractions, with 5 types of sunflowers, 30 varieties of wildflowers, sweetcorn, and 3 acres of wheat to explore.

So if you’re looking for somewhere to find sunflowers in Milton Keynes, this guide is for you!

Things To Do At The Patch MK

There is plenty to do at The Patch MK. All well as having a huge sunflower field, there’s food, things to entertain the kids, and plenty of places for photo opportunities – making it a great place to spend a couple of hours. The Patch MK is only a short drive out of Milton Keynes – about 20 minutes from central MK, and even closer if you’re from Buckingham, Deanshanger, Stony Stratford, or Wolverton.

Take Your Sunflowers Home

There are 5 different types of sunflowers to choose from, and there are plenty of sunflower pickers on hand to help you pick your own. They are priced at £1.50 a stem or £5 for 5 – and if you go over 5 it’s only an extra £1 for each stem.

Haybayles

The haybales are a huge hit with the kids! Last year Ivy was only just starting to walk so didn’t get much out of it, but this year she was determined to make it to the top (with help from her dad) and found it hilarious watching the other children climb their way up!

Vintage Tractor

The vintage tractor is back again this year at The Patch MK. It makes a great photo opportunity, and the kids love it – Ivy’s particularly in a tractor and car phase at the moment, so she loved climbing on this!

Food and Drink

You’ll find the Patch Pantry serving up pulled pork rolls, jackfruit rolls, fresh sweetcorn, coffee, ice cream, cake, and popcorn! I loved the addition of the tractor and sunflower gingerbread biscuits – great for little ones!

There’s also The Pegasus bar on selected weekends serving local beers, ciders, Pimms, and wines. I couldn’t resist a pint of Saxby’s blackcurrant cider in the sunshine!

Fun for Kids

This year there are loads of additions for kids. As well as the barrel train they had running last year, there’s also an area to meet some friendly sheep, slides, and an area to build dens. We spent ages in this section, and even though Ivy’s just under 2 – there were loads to keep her entertained! Everything is included in the ticket price apart from the barrel train, which is an extra £2.50 to ride.

Photo Opportunities

You won’t be short of photo opportunities at The Patch MK! With loads of beautiful sunflowers and wildflowers, you don’t have to go far to find a nice spot to shoot. There’s also the viewing platform, an 8ft heart, vintage tractor, Patch MK letters, and butterfly wings.
