Last year I saw someone recommend a great park for toddlers on Facebook in Newport Pagnell. Ivy had just turned 1 and was turning into a very confident climber, and our local park just wasn’t doing it for her. When I saw photos of the Newport Pagnell play park I knew we were going to love it straight away, so off we went to explore!
Newport Pagnell play park was recently refurbished in February 2020, and at the time of writing, it’s still in almost new condition. The park is beautiful and colourful, which I love! There’s just something toddlers love about a brightly coloured park. The main area for toddlers is enclosed, which is the main reason I love coming here, so I can let my daughter run wild and not have to worry.
Newport Pagnell play park has lots to play on, climb off, and swing on! My 2-year-old Ivy spent most of her time wanting to play on the large climbing frame. When we first visited when she was 1 it was too large for her to climb on unassisted, but now she whizzes up and down it with no help at all! There are several different ways to climb up, a tunnel to climb through, and a slide. It’s all easy to navigate, and Ivy spent ages playing on it!
There’s the most perfect toddler slide at this park too. I first found out about this park through The Outdoors Mum‘s blog, and she had a say in the design of this slide which is cool. The slide has been designed with enclosed steps and a handrail so it’s easy for toddlers to navigate, and the slide isn’t too high. There are also some interactive features on the side of the slide, which Ivy always loves to play with. When we first visited this park a year ago, we came with a baby friend of Ivy’s who wasn’t walking independently yet and he was still able to use this slide. It’s a lovely alternative for younger toddlers to the other climbing frame in the play park, especially if they aren’t confident climbers.
As well as climbing frames, Newport Pagnell play park has toddler swings, a small roundabout that’s easy for them to step on and off, and a couple of rockers including a car, a cat, and a rocket. Ivy loved the car and the roundabout the most, she even convinced me to join her on the roundabout at one point! Everything is nicely spread out, so there’s also plenty of room to run around and play.
There’s also a play area for bigger children at Newport Pagnell play park – made up of swings, a bucket swing, a climbing frame with two slides, and monkey bars. You can also find a big basketball court behind that, so make sure you bring a ball along with you! Ivy’s too little for this area so we’ve not explored much of it. But I did bring my 11-year-old stepson along with me on another visit to this area, and he loved being able to climb around while his little sister played in the toddler park.
We absolutely love this park, it’s one of our favourite parks in Milton Keynes. It’s great to find a park that’s suitable for toddlers, and you know they are safe to run around and can play on everything. I’ve visited this park several times at different times of day/week and even when it’s busy it doesn’t feel overcrowded. It’s also in a lovely location, you could bring a picnic here in the warmer months and make a day out of it!

Newport Pagnell play park can be found at the end of Chicheley Street, Newport Pagnell, MK16 9AR. There is no parking, so park considerately on the residential street when visiting.
